Flowering - March - June. Habitat - Spring branches, stream banks, swamps, ditches. Origin - Native to North America. Other information - This species can be found in scattered southern and northern Alabama counties. The plant can be identified by its opposite toothed leaves, long pedicels, and its big white to lilac flowers. The flowers have two fertile stamens and no sterile stamens.
